Interview with Tiffany Lamothe of AJoyfulAffair.com
How did you find out about Magento Go?
I was a Magento CE user. I saw the Magento catchy ad about the “Stimulus Program” while on the forums one day, and decided to check it out. I’m very happy I did!
What made you choose Magento Go over other ecommerce platform solutions?
I have loved my experience with Magento CE, and it made sense for me to focus more on generating leads and promoting my business, rather than being my own techie. I had checked into other Big Box eCommerce programs but they were all very pricey. Magento Go was very inexpensive, and since I knew the program very well already, I knew it would be a big win for me.
What were you using prior to Magento Go?
Magento CE on my own server.
How easy was it to start your store?
I had the store launched that afternoon. Even someone completely inexperienced with Magento (or any eCommerce software for that matter,) could get started selling within a matter of hours. If someone takes just a few minutes to learn a few CSS rules, they could be on their way to a customized store - but they don’t even need that - since Magento has so many great starter templates/themes to choose from!
How has your experience been with Magento Go thus far?
I have been nothing but pleased. I started making sales just a few days after my site launched. And with each revision, it just gets better and better - unlike some eCommerce platforms that break when they have new releases. There’s no “iron out the kinks” downtime with Magento Go. My site is always up and running. And if I do find myself in a jam (with my customization, or anything else,) Tech Support is always very prompt and friendly.
How is managing your site day-to-day with Magento Go?
It’s very easy to manage my site on a day-to-day basis. Magento Go pretty much manages everything for me. I get up in the a.m. and I have my order emails right in my inbox! The system emails me and then I log in and get the details. When an order ships out, I can easily enter in tracking info (even from multiple vendors!) and I can choose whether or not to send details of what’s going on behind the scenes to my customers. Adding products is very easy, and managing inventory can be handled for me - alhtough I choose to manage it myself.
What are your goals for the future?
To be a millionaire. Hahaha. No, seriously - I have high hopes for what my store can be. It can definitely compete at the same level as my top competitors, and I’d bet they’re paying a LOT more for their hosting and platform. So Magento Go has already given me an edge from day 1.
Do you have plans to expand your site globally?
My product line is really geared towards U.S. customers because my suppliers don’t generally ship outside the U.S. for me.
What advice would you give to other small business owners?
Do it! You have nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain. Magento Go is easy, very affordable. The support from the company is top notch, and everything just keeps getting better. It’s a business decision that will really benefit you for the long term. Spend less time and money on the technical and design aspects, and start selling!
