Setting Up DHL (Deprecated Version)

The DHL configuration for your store has been upgraded to include the latest features and services from DHL. To learn more, see: Setting Up DHL The following instructions apply only if you use the earlier DHL implementation.

DHL offers integrated international services and tailored, customer-focused solutions for managing and transporting letters, goods and information. This article provides steyp-by-step instructions for setting up the DHL shipping method for your Magento Go store.

To configure DHL shipping:

1. From the Admin panel, select System > Configuration.
2. In the Configuration panel on the left, under Sales, select the Shipping Methods tab.
3. Click to expand the DHL section. Then, do the following:
1. Set Enabled to Yes.
2. In most cases, you can accept the default Gateway URL. However, if DHL has given you an alternate URL, enter the value in this field.
3. In the Title field, type a name that will be used to refer to this shipping method during checkout.
4. Use the credentials provided by DHL to complete the following fields:
   
   • Access ID
   • Password
   • Account Number
   • Shipping Key (International)
   • Shipment Key
5. In the Shipment Type list, select the option that best describes the type of package you ship:
   
   • Package
   • Letter
6. In the Calculate Handling Fee list, select the method you want to use to calculate handling fees:
   
   • Fixed Fee
   • Percentage

   Note: The handling fee is optional, and appears as an additional charge that is added to the DHL shipping cost.

   Then, in the Handling Applied list, select how you want the handling fees applied:
   

   • Per Order
   • Per Package
7. In the Package Description field, describe the type of package usually shipped. The default entry is Big Box.
8. In the Handling Fee field, enter the amount to be charged for a handling fee, based on the method you have chosen to calculate the amount. For example, if the charge is based on a fixed fee, enter the amount as a decimal, such as: 4.90. However, if the handling fee is based on a percentage of the order, enter the amount as a percentage. For example, if you are charging six percent of the order, enter the value as: .06.
9. If your shipments are subject to international duty charges, set Shipment Dutiable to Yes.
10. Enter the Maximum Package Weight as specified for your DHL account. By default, this field is set to 150.
11. In the Shipment Duty Payment Type list, identify the party responsible to pay international duty charges:
    
    • Receiver
    • Sender
    • Third Party
12. In the Allowed Methods list, select each shipment method that you support. (Hold the Ctrl key down to select multiple options.)
13. In the Free Method list, select the shipping method you prefer to use for offers of free shipping.
    

    Note: This is similar to Free Shipping, but appears in the DHL section so customers will know which method is used for their order.

14. In the Displayed Error Message box, type a message to appear in the event that a selected method becomes unavailable.
15. Set the Free Shipping with Minimum Order Amount to one of the following:
    
    • Disable: To not offer free DHL shipping with minimum order.
    • Enable: To allow free DHL shipping for orders that meet the minimum amount.
      If offering Free Shipping with Minimum Order, enter the value in the Minimum Order Amount for Free Shipping field.
16. To offer additional delivery protection, set Additional Protection Enabled to Yes. Then, do the following:
    
    1. In the Additional Protection Min Subtotal field, enter the subtotal minimum amount required to receive additional protection.
    2. To determine the exact value that is used to qualify for additional protection, set Additional Protection Value Rounding Method to one of the following:
       
       • To Lower
       • To Upper
       • Round
    3. In the Additional Protection Configuration Value field, type the amount of additional protection offered, as a numeric value.
17. If your shipments contain hazardous materials, set Shipment Contains Hazardous Materials to Yes.
18. For accurate shipping charge estimates, complete the following fields to describe the dimensions of your typical shipping container:
    
    1. Default Package Length
    2. Default Package Width
    3. Default Package Height
19. In the Domestic Shipment Days list, select the days of the week when you make domestic shipments. This information will be used to estimate delivery time. (Hold the Ctrl key down to select multiple days.)
20. In the International Shipment Days list, select the days of the week when you make international shipments. This information will be used to estimate delivery time. (Hold the Ctrl key down to select multiple days.)
21. Set Ship to Applicable Countries to one of the following:
    
    • All Allowed Countries
    • Specific Countries
      If shipping to specific countries, select each country from the Ship to Specific Countries list. (Hold the Ctrl key down to select multiple countries.)
22. Set Show Method if Not Applicable to one of the following:
    
    • Yes: To show all options, whether or not they are applicable.
    • No: To show only applicable options.
23. Set Debug to one of the following:
    
    • Yes: To save a record of DHL shipments in a log file.
    • No: To not save a record of DHL shipments in a log file.

24. In the Sort Order field, type a numeric value to determine the sequence in which DHL appears when listed with other shipping methods during checkout.
4. When complete, click the Save Config button to save your changes.

Field Descriptions
